You Need A Shop In Rhododendron

by Liz Warren

If you need a shop in Rhododendron and a great newer one level home in a secluded location, you’ve come to the right place. The property is located off Yakima Lane in B and C acres in Rhododendron, Oregon with over an acre of land. It’s a sun filled spot with neighbors not too far away but close enough if you need them.

There are three outstanding things about this property.

1. The shop is 40 X 36 and has a loft! You could probably build trains and airplanes in this space it’s so big!

2. The house is a spacious 2300 square feet and built in 2007. It’s easy on the knees because it’s one level with spacious living room, dining room and kitchen area. A cozy wood stove and skylights are highlights. There’s room for the RV and the grandkids including three bedrooms and two baths.

3. Do you love the mountains and space to SPREAD OUT? With over an acre of land you’ve got it covered! Come on up to Mt. Hood and have some elbow room. This home is tucked away with great access to skiing, golf, fishing, biking and hiking just down the street in every direction.

This home is offered as a short sale and the bank says the price is $305,000. Check out this paradise today. If you’re looking for a perfect piece of Mt. Hood real estate, this is it. Take your tour below.

Animals in Your Backyard?

by Liz Warren

Have you ever seen some funny animal tracks in the snow that you can't quite figure out? Did you hear a noise on your deck at night and wonder what is wondering around outside? Here is a handy app for your iphone to look up what's in your backyard from Critter Control. You can visit the Critter Control web site and look up all kinds of Mt. Hood creatures from crows and bats to pack rats and raccoons that are in our neighborhoods and forested Mt. Hood Villages.

This web site even has audio and photos of the animals and birds. No bears were listed in the animal section and we know there have been more than a few bears seen in our area. They particularly like the Still Creek Inn's garbage cans.

I was fortunate enough to see my first bear up on Road 27 about three years ago. My daughter saw her first bear at age 11 walking through our yard near the Resort at the Mountain golf course.

Enjoy this Critter Control web site for tips on wildlife control in your neighborhood.

Glacier Haus Bistro Opens In Government Camp

by Liz Warren

Great news for Government Camp! A new restaurant, Glacier Haus Bistro, has opened in the “old” general store.  Extensive remodeling to jazz the place up and adding the winning combo of Slava and Dasa Kropacek  plus their son,  Jerry Kropacek  makes for a stellar restaurant  combo. They’ve been open for business since Novermber. The building seats 45.

The menu sounds fantastic plus they have an expresso bar and make PIZZA! Hungry ski families have their dreams answered right in downtown Government Camp on Mt. Hood. This is a welcome addition to service the many travelers and vacationers who visit the Government Camp area and visit Mt. Hood in winter and summer.

Read the story of the Kropacek’s history in the Mt. Hood area and their move from Czechoslovakia in this Oregonian article.
