Tubing on Mt. Hood
Tubing on Mt. Hood just went to the next level. Government Camp is the epicenter of tubing in the Northwest. With only a short drive to Government Camp from Portland, just over an hour, kids, teens and adults who want to have their winter experience in the snow can go tubing on the mountain.
Three locations present the best opportunity. All three are also located in the Mt. Hood National Forest. Cooper Spur is just past Government Camp as you're heading East. Summit ski area at the far East side of Government Camp and Snow Bunny Hill operated by Summit is another choice. It's located two miles past Government Camp. The third choice, bringing tubing to the next level is Ski Bowl (located on the Multorpor side). Theres a conveyor belt that takes tubers up the hill.
Have you ever heard of Cosmic Tubing on Mt. Hood? Rumor has it that this is the only area that has brought this concept to the next level in the US. Ski Bowl is the Northwest birthplace of Cosmic Tubing. This is the quintessential teenage party event. On Friday and Saturday nights tubers can get a three hour ticket to ride and listen to techno music blast over the slopes with the hill lit up like a dance floor.
So, if you haven't checked this sport out! There is plenty of winter left for fun on Mt. Hood!
